Eminent, and good sense...


The op-ed in today (September 28, 2007)'s Hindu by Romila Thapar on the history versus faith debate that is occupying so much of the national consciousness these days makes gripping reading. The author is eminent, and what she writes makes good sense. Removing a debate from its proper arena, that of the environment, to a conflict between faith and history is just bad politics. On this matter, as on many others, Prof. Thapar brings lucid argumentation and a balanced, rational point of view that is difficult to resist.
